Barrell Whiskey Batch 001

The Latest Press

Barrell Bourbon Batch 003 was picked as Best New Whiskey of 2014 by Kurt Maitland, Deputy Editor of the Whiskey Reviewer, a web magazine currently ranked as the #5 whiskey-only website in the world. Kurt says "Batch 003 is full of flavors and is so well done that I’m going to have to start treating Barrell Bourbon the way I treat Parker’s Heritage each year and grab a bottle the minute it is released." Whiskey Reviewer has been cited, quoted and reprinted by the American Distilling Institute’s newsletter, The Atlantic, Drinkhacker, Foodista, MarketWatch, and NY Daily News

We're Expanding

Our reach is growing in the New York City and New Jersey. In addition to liquor stores, Barrell is on the shelf at Terra Blues, Barley and Grain, Ward III, Morrells, and the Brandy Library in Manhattan, and The Lodge and Pork Slope in Brooklyn. Thanks to all the fans who continue to ask for us at bars, since that's how we get in there! If you're upstate in the Hudson, NY area, keep your eyes out for an event with Hudson Wine Merchant in the next couple of months. Pretty much every weekend there is a Barrell tasting in the greater New York City area.

Origin Beverage Co, a division of Horizon Beverage Co, is the new distributor of Barrell Bourbon and Barrell Whiskey in Massachusetts. Connecticut distributor, Northeast Beverage, continues to expand our reach in Fairfield and New Haven County, including at Loading Dock in Milford and Ninety 9 Bottles in Westport. We are also being served at PlanB Burger bar throughout the state. Looking ahead to March, there will be a whiskey class at Harry's Wine and Liquor Market in Fairfield which will feature Barrell Bourbon and Whiskey.

Plans are being finalized to distribute in Virginia, North Caroline and Tennessee. Next up - California, Illinois and Florida.

New Releases

Barrell Whiskey Batch 001, released in January, is made from a bourbon mash of corn, rye and malted barley. The whiskey was distilled in Indiana and matured in Kentucky for seven years in ex-bourbon barrels. This batch was bottled at 122.5 proof without the use of chill-filtration. As a result, the whiskey has a brilliant, golden color along with an aroma of tobacco, persimmon and chocolate. Notes of cooked stone fruits, roasted corn, toasted oak and chewy leather dominate the palate, and lead to a finish accented by hints of chocolate and hazelnut.

Barrell Bourbon Batch 004 will be bottled in early March. Tasting notes will be posted on BarrellBourbon.com.
