We've been hard at work selecting barrels and blending Barrell Seagrass, the newest member of our family. This finished rye whiskey has a personality unique to both the BCS Portfolio and the whiskey landscape at large. We look forward to introducing it soon. Barrell Seagrass is a blend of American and Canadian rye whiskeys. Each ingredient was meticulously sourced and finished separately in Martinique Rhum Agricole casks, apricot brandy casks, and Madeira barrels. Seagrass highlights the grassy oceanside notes we love in rye and the opulence and spice of finishing barrels. Seagrass is an ode to coastal memories, blended to evoke the joy of a day on the beach and an evening listening to the soothing rhythm of waves. Hot sun, brisk air, dry sand, and oceanside vegetation are brought to mind. A ripe and inviting tropical nose and grassy, bright body evolve to a finish as long as the view down the shore on a clear day.

Barrell Bourbon Batch 028 is a blend of 10 and 11-year-old barrels created from a marriage of three distinct sub-groups of barrels. The first was aroma forward with notes of tropical fruit, citrus zest and exotic spices, identified to drive the nose of the final blend. The second group had a richness in the middle palate and a sweet, almond-like body. The third group was peppery and tannic, adding backbone and a savory, woodsy and earthy component. The final blend of Batch 028 allows each of these groups to shine through. It presents a bouquet of ripe tropical and sweet flower aroma backed up by a robust punch of rustic wood in the cadence and finish.

Barrell Bourbon Batch 025 was featured on Uproxx's list of The Best Bottles Of Bourbon Whiskey Between $80-$90, where Barrell Craft Spirits was called, "one of the best blenderies in the bourbon game right now." Batch 027 was included on Food and Wine's list of The 9 Best Bourbons to Start Your Collection, where it was described as, "a cherry bomb of a whiskey." Whisky Advocate highlighted BCS Founder Joe Beatrice in their #TasteWithSpace series. Senior Editor Susannah Skiver Barton recaps Beatrice’s interview with Associate Editor Ted Simmons, emphasizing the meticulous nature of the work of BCS. Robb Report included Barrell Tale of Two Islands on their list of the 21 Best Rums of the 21st Century (So Far), Ranked. Barrell Craft Spirits Private Release Bourbon series was featured in Elite Traveler's The Best Bourbon Brands in the World. Barrell Bourbon Batch 025 was selected as one of the three Standout Whiskies From Winter 2020 in Whisky Advocate. It was described as "wonderfully dense with fruit, including flavors of marmalade, strawberry jam, and bright tropical fruits, woven with more spice." Barrell Bourbon Batch 026 was featured in American Whiskey Magazine, where Peggy Noe Stevens and Susan Reigler give their own tasting notes and each rate this release higher than a 9.0. Stevens rounds out the review by commenting, "Get excited folks, a truly traditional Bourbon with beautiful complexity and balance." Barrell Craft Spirits was featured in Jake Emen’s Distiller article, Bourbon Blending: Brands Emphasizing the Blend. “Combining these different bourbon whiskeys together to create a unique product isn’t something Barrell Craft Spirits is hiding from. On the contrary, it’s the whole point.”
