Barrell Craft Spirits Awards Double Gold • Barrell Dovetail – Dovetail is blended to highlight some of our favorite flavors. Woody bourbon; terroir driven Dunn Cabernet; toasted French oak; Late Bottled Vintage Port pipes; black strap molasses casks; It’s a uniquely delicious whiskey with a buttery texture and rich, spicy depth. • Barrell Seagrass – Seagrass highlights the grassy oceanside notes we love in rye and the opulence and spice of finishing barrels. It is a blend of American and Canadian rye whiskeys, with each ingredient meticulously sourced and finished separately in Martinique Rhum, Madeira & apricot brandy barrels.
Gold • Barrell Bourbon Batch 034 is a blend of 6, 8, 10, and 15-year-old barrels. 8-year-old barrels driven by strong hazelnut and dark cherry notes lay a foundation enhanced by high-corn barrels showing browned butter and apricot. The nose is deftly balanced between the exuberant fresh fruit of youth and the oxidized, dried fruit of maturity. This dynamic tension carries over to the palate where rich port notes are supported by bright Seville orange and cola. The result is a robust and sophisticated bourbon. • Barrell Bourbon Batch 035 (not yet released) started with a multi-mashbill blend of spicy and earthy, high-rye, high-proof, oak forward barrels and a blend of softer, lower-proof barrels with concentrated notes of dark cherry and butterscotch. Banana bread on the nose is complemented by myriad herbaceous aromas from the rye grain. An earthiness intensifies on the palate. The resulting bourbon is peppery and intriguing on the nose, and sweet and long on the finish. • Barrell Bourbon Private Release Bourbon GXA1 has a component age statement of 75% 5 year 15% 7 year 5% 9 year and 5% 14 year bourbons. It shows a pronounced sweet and earthy Kentucky Bourbon influence. • Barrell Private Release Whiskey QJC1 Finished in a Cognac Park XO Cask has an aroma of spiced orange, spearmint, maple pancakes, and baked apples. The palate comes in with spearmint, apple pie, cinnamon doughnut, Seville orange and finishes with creamy notes of milk chocolate and caramel iced coffee. • Barrell Private Release Whiskey DJA2 Finished in a St. Agrestis Brooklyn Amaro Cask has an aroma of cardamom, baked apricot, orange and lime zest, and a hint of white pepper. The palate comes in with cardamom, dark cherry, ginger, tarragon and finishes with a hint of lemon grass.
Stellum Awards Double Gold • Stellum Rye is rooted in a tried and true 95% Rye Indiana mash bill. To enhance this classic style, we incorporate small amounts more barley-forward rye and choice barrels from both Kentucky and Tennessee. This brings a full, round mouthfeel and flashes of buttery sweetness to an otherwise spicy and tightly focused Rye Whiskey. • Stellum Fibonacci Rye celebrates the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers, each the sum of the two previous numbers. Six separate rye blends were combined in accordance with this sequence. Just like so many other presentations of Fibonacci, the blend that it produced was both balanced and beautiful.
Gold • Stellum Bourbon finds its flavor in the tension of three Indiana Bourbon mash bills, two of which are high-rye, with the third being almost exclusively corn. Older barrels from both Kentucky and Tennessee are folded in slowly, through a multi-step blending process. This brings added layers of depth and complexity. • Stellum Lone Cypress Rye is a savory and delicate rye blend, defined by notes of dried herbs and pine, with a hint of salt-air salinity. It’s named for one of the world’s most famous trees, found on the picturesque coast of the Monterey Peninsula.
