WHISKY ADVOCATE EDITOR'S CHOICE FOR WINTER 2019
Breaking News We’re honored that Barrell Bourbon Batch 021 was rated 94 points and selected as Whisky Advocate Winter 2019 Editors’ Choice. Executive Editor Jeffery Lindenmuth calls it “A multifaceted bourbon that is as intriguing as it is delicious.” His tasting notes read "Sweet and toasty aromas, like a coconut macaroon, are balanced with bright green apple in this showstopper of a bourbon. Secondary notes include alluring five-spice, cigar box, and dark cherry fruit. The flavors really fulfill expectations, as toasty notes of brown butter meet delicate spice, candied peanuts, and grilled peaches. But wait for the finish! A cascade of gingery and peppery spices, grilled peaches, and pecan descend in perfect harmony." Barrell Bourbon Batch 020 also received high marks, with a rating of 92 points by Jeffery Lindenmuth. He called it "Strikingly mature and rich ...The palate shows a lot of gusto and while it certainly doesn’t need water, a splash rewards by unleashing the ample oak, coupled with heaps of Peanut Chews, dried apple, and more leather on the beautifully balanced finish."
As we continue to gain recognition of our blending expertise, we have decided to approach our distillery in a different way, on a larger scale, to have an impact on our blending. We've updated our equipment and completed the installation of two 6,000 gallon Vendome blending tanks and related proprietary custom equipment that reflects our unique blending techniques. This new equipment along with our existing equipment allows us to simultaneously blend multiple projects and enables us to experiment with new techniques that we created. In addition to new releases coming out this year, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with Dunn Vineyards and have entered a new set of Indiana whiskeys in their Cabernet Barrels for our next release of Dovetail. We are also forging along with our American Vatted Malt releases. Each one uses the same core American Single malts with slight variations on ages and barrel use. We also include new single malt distillery partners in the project as we come to agreements with them.
