BCS Gold Label Dovetail
We're pleased to introduce the release of BCS Gold Label Dovetail. Over the past several years, Barrell Dovetail has become a highly regarded expression within our portfolio of products and the American Whiskey world. Following the success of BCS Gray Label Dovetail, we decided to apply the concept of “Dovetail” to our oldest, rarest stocks. BCS Gold Label Dovetailis created with the same finishing and blending method as our award-winning Dovetail, and incorporates whiskeys aged up to 25 years, resulting in a more powerful and robust blend. We left these component whiskeys in their finishing casks for longer and included some very high proof barrels to create a blend with an intensity matched only by its nuance and layering. Available online here. • Whiskey finished in rum, port, and Dunn Vineyards cabernet barrels • Distilled in Indiana, Tennessee and Canada • Aged in the US and Canada • Crafted and bottled in Kentucky • 140.18 proof cask strength bottling Flavor Notes The nose is fun and inviting, firmly anchored in classic whiskey aromas, augmented but never overshadowed by contributions from the various finishing casks. The palate evolves from strawberry rhubarb pie, to toasted marshmallow and wintergreen. A riot of tropical fruit burst from the finish. Water transforms it into a rich dessert of a whiskey, loaded with nutty, leafy rancio notes. Neat Appearance: Desert Sandstone Nose: White grapefruit, and red currant illustrate a classic fruity whiskey aroma just slightly influenced by cabernet. Dunn Vineyards classic stewed cherry, sarsaparilla, and creme de menthe float by. Assorted jams such as raspberry and white grape are suggestive of Port’s influence along with espresso. Palate: Bright citric acid lights up the taste buds. The Canadian whisky and varied maturation create a complex textural experience. An opening of strawberry rhubarb pie leads into lemonade as the tartness builds. It is then overtaken by creamed honey and marshmallow. The evolution concludes with the classic spices of Indiana whiskey – herbs and pine. Finish: Ginger ale and panela explode onto the scene, evocative of the rum casks. As they fade, a fruitier side combines with tropical notes to deliver ripe mango and candied pineapple. The finish is also just touched by the Cabernet’s cranberry juice and slate.
Giving Back
We think that it's as good to give as it is to receive, especially as the holiday season approaches. We were pleased to welcome the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana (BGCK) to our distillery last week to present them with a check for $10,000. This year we made a commitment at the beginning of the soccer season to donate $100 to the organization for every Racing Louisville Shot on Goal throughout the season. The mission of BGCK is “to inspire and enable all young people, especially those most in need of our services, to realize and develop their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” We're also proud to be the Presenting Sponsor for Bourbon Charity's annual online Thanksgiving fundraiser. The fundraiser will start the first week of November and run through "Giving Tuesday" on November 29th. Winners will be randomly selected on December 6th. This year the charities benefiting from the fundraiser will be Norton Children's Hospital (Louisville, KY), Lurie Children's Hospital (Chicago, IL), Dare to Care Food Bank (Louisville, KY), and Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee (Nashville, TN). Raffle tickets are available here. This is a great way to take a chance on some great bourbon offerings and help some worthwhile organizations at the same time. Check out other ways BCS is involved in our community.
Getting Back
As many of our friends and supporters know, we have an unrelenting drive to break the status quo by selecting and blending products that explore different distillation methods, barrels and aging environments, and bottle them at cask strength. All blends are not created equal – experience matters. We don’t simply follow a recipe or blend by consensus. Rather, we blend based on years of expertise and experimentation. We personally taste and blend hundreds of products each year and have experimented with thousands of unique blends over the past 10 years. We are passionate perfectionists fueled by curiosity. As always, we're honored to receive top marks and reviews from the people who review our products, and are pleased to share them with you.
