It's been a difficult year for most of us and we're grateful for the support of our friends and followers. In a year where so much of what we know and count on has been turned upside-down, we've found some comfort in the tradition of our Barrell Bourbon New Year, constructed as a toast to the year to come. We're happy to say this is now available.

Appearance: Goldenrod fading to a rim of lemon chiffon. Nose: Distillate driven, but with ample variety of primary fruit flavors, among them gooseberry, apple, watermelon rind, and peach. The oak is fresh but quite gentle, smelling of vanilla, toasted coconut, and sawdust. Corn lends a strong creamy foundation of toasted almond, lemon curd, and baguette. Cilantro and wintergreen hint at some light rye spice. Palate: Despite the strength and minimal tannin, sweetness lends a clear weight to the palate. It opens fresh and grassy, on Yorkshire pudding with mushy peas, genepy, and thyme. As it sits on the palate, juicy fruits emerge, notably persimmon, raisin, and black tea with lemon. Finish: An initial burst of minerals: limestone, flint, and steel. These give way to a potpourri of herbs and spices: apple blossom, hyssop, wild mint and clove.

RECENT BUZZ Dovetail was the only whiskey featured under Superstar Spirits in the 2020 Food and Wine's Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide. Barrell Craft Spirits Bourbon was selected as one of the four bourbons in Men's Health "50 Best Gifts for Whiskey Lovers". Barrell Craft Spirits was included the Thrillist Holiday Gift Guide, "The Best Gifts for Whiskey Drinkers, According to a Master Distiller". We always appreciate it when a master distiller chooses our whiskey. Armida was included on Maxim’s list of The Best New American Whiskeys of 2020. Dovetail was number one in Golf.com's "11 delicious American craft whiskies I tried for the first time this year". The 2020 bottling of BCS Bourbon was listed on the Forbes list of the World’s Best Bourbon Whiskey: 2020 New Releases. Dovetail was ranked #4 on Uproxx's list of The Best Bourbons of 2020. Drink Hacker reviews Barrell Bourbon Batch 025, saying, “lots to enjoy in this one from beginning to end,” and calling it, “another winner.” The Whiskey Reviewer reviews Barrell Whiskey Private Release AH18, noting that “this armagnac-polished whiskey has a golden look to it, and a nose that smacks of apples, pears and vanilla.”
